Duties/ Responsibilities |
Depending on assignment, duties may include conducting on-site investigations into allegations of the abuse/maltreatment of children and adults, complaints of deficient care, or deaths of clients in Department of Mental Hygiene operated or licensed facilities. This includes: interviewing clients and staff; reviewing treatment issues and developing recommendations for preventive and remedial action; working with parties toward resolution of problems and providing follow-up on any problem areas or issues relative to such investigations; gathering data relevant to the incident and recording data, findings, impressions and recommendations; participating in fair hearings; and, preparing written reports. |

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications |
A Bachelor's degree AND two years of experience in any combination of the following: a NYS OMH, Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (formerly OMRDD), or OASAS licensed or supervised facility; a medical facility; a child protective services organization; and/or working as a professional advocate or service provider in the field of rehabilitation, developmental disabilities, or mental health. A Master's degree in a human services or health-related field may be substituted for one year of experience. |

Additional Comments |
This position requires significant travel within NYS. The successful candidate will possess excellent writing skills and interview/investigation experience. Fluency in Spanish a plus. |
