Duties/ Responsibilities

Essential Functions:
Windows Server Administration:
Responsible for the planning and installation of all server based hardware, operating system and software additions, migrations and upgrades.
Provide for server equipment security and maintenance; operation and maintenance of disk systems; document system usage, problem areas, directory structure and subsystems performance.
Facilitate reliable operation of system and application software by monitoring and evaluating system usage and keeping desktop systems tuned for optimum performance.
Assist in coordinating and providing technical assistance for the installation of hardware and software enhancements.
Manage/coordinate the deployment, installation and maintenance of the Authoritys server environment.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:
May train and evaluate employees.
Work closely with the Compliance Officer to identify and apply appropriate security controls for user access to business information and submit updates to the Disaster Recovery Plan when system changes occur.
Assist with the development, documentation and implementation of procedures.
Assist with the assessment/development and implementation of internal controls, and participate in the review and testing of same.
Undertake special assignments as directed.
Must adhere to the NYS Information Security Policy Standards established and issued by the Office of Cyber Security and Critical Infrastructure Coordination. (Standards can be found on the Intranet.)

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree plus three years relevant server administration experience, or Associates degree plus six years relevant server administration experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science plus three years relevant experience. Experience with network monitoring and diagnostic tools. Experience with automated centralized software distribution and remote control tools (i.e., Systems Management Server). Strong documentation skills, including the use of Visio. Familiarity with Active Directory, Group Policy, Network Security (Firewalls, etc), Citrix, and Windows 2000 or 2003 Servers. Demonstrated experience working in and with a diverse systems environment.
