Duties/ Responsibilities

The incumbent supervises and conducts financial and operational audits of State and local providers, is the on-site supervisor and provides direction and leadership to other audit staff. The incumbent will work independently on audits and communicate with the auditee to explain audit results. As a supervisor, the incumbent will write audit programs to ensure audit objectives are identified, and there is a step-by-step plan to accomplish those objectives. The incumbent oversees staff work and reviews and approves subordinate workpapers. The incumbent prepares audit reports which can be readily reviewed by the supervisor and explains any technical questions raised by the Audit Manager on the content of the review. Travel is required.

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications

Please Note: Individuals must be employed by New York State to be eligible for appointment to this position.

Candidates must be eligible to transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law by having at least one year of permanent service in the Associate Auditor title, or in a qualifying title within two salary grades of the Grade 23 level.
