Duties/ Responsibilities

As a Labor Services Representative you will provide a broad range of services to jobseekers and employers both on an individual basis and through group presentations. You will interview customers to evaluate the nature of services desired, obtaining a complete work history including job experience, education, skills, salary ranges and job preferences. You will identify barriers to employment and develop solutions to these barriers and will provide information on available DOL resources.

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications

Reassignment qualifications: Candidates with at least one year permanent competitive service in an LSR traineeship may be eligible for reassignment.

Transfer Qualifications:

Section 70.1: Candidates with one year permanent competitive service in the following titles may qualify for transfer to Labor Services Representative, Grade 16:

Employment Counselor, Grade 18
Labor Services Representative (and parenthetics), Grade 16

Candidates with one year permanent competitive service in the following titles may qualify for transfer to Labor Services Representative Trainee 2, eq. Grade 14:

UI Investigator, Grade 16
UI Reviewing Examiner, Grade 16
Candidates with one year permanent competitive service in the following titles may qualify for transfer to Labor Services Representative Trainee 1, eq. to Grade 13:

Employment Services Representative, Grade 18
Safety and Health Inspector, Grade 18
Senior Personnel Administrator, Grade 18

Additional Comments

This position is open to NYS employees eligible for transfer or reassignment.

This is a traineeship position that starts at a Grade 13. The beginning salary for a Grade 13 is $38,934. After successful completion of the first year, you would be advance to a Grade 14 at a salary of $41,170. At the end of the two year traineeship you would become a grade 16 at a salary of $ 45,940.
