Duties/ Responsibilities

The primary need for this position is to manage the interoperability and interchange of the multiple electronic messaging application systems messaging which includes VMS System Mail, Secure Message Center (SMC) and MS Exchange. Messaging (e-mail) and other alternatives means of messaging (unified communication) is a rapidly growing requirement for the Agency due to the importance to communicate effectively and efficiently in order to conduct everyday business within the agency and outside of the agency. Due to the nature of OPWDDs business, it is necessary to insure all electronic communications both internal and external comply with any existing rules; regulation and/or laws that mandate how certain electronic communications need to be delivered and/or received. As with all other State agencies, OPWDD is required to adhere to the NYS Cyber Security Policy; that has been published by the NYS Office of Cyber Security & Critical Infrastructure Coordination (OCSCIC).

The duties required by the incumbent will include, but not be limited to the following:

Provide Comprehensive support for the integration and maintenance of the multiple messaging applications

Insure the proper flow of messaging is being maintained between the multiple VMS, Secure Messaging and Exchange environments.

Maintain the VMS PMDF message routing environment.

Maintain the VMS PMAS Anti-Spam environment.

Develop work plans, provide training, schedule and maintain activities of the separate messaging systems.

Coordinate and resolve tasks, issues and work associated with projects involving the messaging platforms.

Oversee the design, development or enhancement of communication/messaging initiatives.

Evaluate new communication/messaging technologies and make recommendations regarding their acquisition, installation and integration into the existing OPWDD environment.

Ensure all current messaging software is properly maintained, monitored, analyzed and evaluated in order to maintain peak efficiency and improve availability and performance.

Work in conjunction with state and non-state entities to insure OPWDD is meeting and satisfying mandated messaging security requirements.

Work closely with outside vendor technical support and OPWDD staff to schedule proactive maintenance as well as remedial bug fixes and issues.

Provide reports, statistics and recommendations on messaging to managing supervisor.

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications

Minimum of one (3) year with the following experience:

Configuration and utilization of Process Softwares PMDF Message Routing Software

Configuration and utilization of Process Softwares PMAS Anti-Spam software

Minimum of three (3) years with the following experiences:

Installing, configuring, and administering a MS Exchange 2007 Environment with a user base of not less than 10,000 mailboxes.

Creating, modifying and executing MS Power shell scripting

Experience with mobile messaging technology
(Blackberry, Smartphones, PDAs, etc)

Configuring, managing, troubleshooting Exchange Hosted Archive (EHA).

Backup and restore of a 2007 Exchange server environment.

Single Copy Clustering (2007 Exchange)

ISA Server 2006 configuration, implementation, and management

Installing, configuring and administering external Mail Gateway Appliances

Utilizing Process Software routing and anti-spam products.

Minimum of Five (5) years installing, configuring and administering Win2003 Active Directory

Installing, configuring, and administering an Enterprise MS Office Communication Server (OCS) environment.

Minimum of one (3) year with the following experience:

Configuration and utilization of Process Softwares PMDF Message Routing Software.

Configuration and utilization of Process Softwares PMAS Anti-Spam software.
