Duties/ Responsibilities |
Duties of the incumbent in this position include the following: Reviewing psychiatric and medical histories of persons assigned for treatment; conducting full psychiatric screenings and evaluations of such persons; administering, supervising, coordinating, and managing treatment programs; approving the discharge or reassignment of clients to other programs, facilities, or units; developing and supervising residency and medical training programs for physicians and medical students assigned to the facility, unit or program; and setting policies, goals, and standards for the facility, unit, or program and ensuring staff compliance with same. |

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications |
Possession of a license to practice medicine in New York State; AND completion of an approved training program or certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or by a foreign Board clearly equivalent; AND eligibility for full and unconditional participation in Medicaid and Medicare reimbursement programs. NOTE: If applicant is a Psychiatrist (PT) currently, in a state agency, he or she may be eligible for 70.1 transfer. |

Additional Comments |
Fingerprinting is required at the time of appointment, the fee is currently $86.50. In addition, screening through the New York State Register for Child Abuse and Maltreatment will also be required, the fee is currently $5. |
