Duties/ Responsibilities

As a Labor Services Representative Trainee 1 (Spanish Language), you would assist customers and provide services to the public in accordance with quality and quantity standards mandated by various laws, rules and Federal regulations. You would interview and elicit information from customers to ascertain services appropriate to meet their needs. Depending on whether you are assigned to a Telephone Claims Center, Employment Services Office, One-Stop Career Center, or Special Programs Office, such services may include: referral to employment opportunities and/or training programs, or various alternative services available from the Department of Labor and other public and private agencies. You would be expected to perform all these and other related duties in English and Spanish.
Please note: Hours and Days will vary. You may be expected to work evenings and weekends.

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A CURRENT NYS GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEE. POSITION IS OPEN TO ANYONE WHO MEETS THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university is required.

Additional Comments

To be considered for appointment you will be required to pass a Civil Service language examination to demonstrate proficiency in speaking, writing, and reading Spanish at a level that will ensure your ability to perform the duties of the position.

The above salary range is for the Trainee 1 level. This is a two-year traineeship and successful completion to full-title (Grade 16) has the salary range of $44,173 - $55,716.
