Duties/ Responsibilities

Associate Auditors perform systematic examinations and appraisals of the accounting records and financial affairs of public, for profit and non-profit organizations and businesses to ensure that accounts are maintained in compliance with governing laws, rules, regulations and contracts; determine the ability of the organization to conduct its programs efficiently and effectively; and evaluate internal controls and practices. These activities require the application of professional accounting and auditing standards and principles. They may also lead an auditing team in conducting large/complex audits. Statewide travel is required.

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications

INDIVIDUALS MUST BE EMPLOYED BY NEW YORK STATE TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR APPOINTMENT TO THIS POSITION.

Current permanent status as an Associate Auditor and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law (i.e. Associate Accountant); or

Eligible for provisional appointment. To be eligible for provisional appointment, candidates must have a minimum of one year experience as a Senior Auditor (NYS title) and must take, pass and be reachable for appointment from the next holding of the Associate Auditor examination. Candidates who do not pas the examination or achieve a reachable score may not be retained. The next Civil Service examination for Associate Auditor has not yet been scheduled.
