Duties/ Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Manager of Information Technology Services (SG-25), the position would be responsible to direct and participate in the design, development and maintenance of OPWDDs Enterprise java applications. Duties include:

Design software based on business requirements while accounting for impact on computer resources and other systems, corresponding security controls, and alignment with existing capabilities and applications.

Develop, manage, and execute project work plans within OPWDDs framework for project management methodology.

Direct and conduct software testing and implementation.

Interact with other members of IMS as required to schedule, migrate to production and monitor production jobs.

As necessary, participate with agency management, business owners, staff and vendors to define, refine and meet business requirements.

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications

Eight or more years of experience developing java applications.

Eight or more years of experience maintaining older MVC-1 Java applications with custom frameworks. Candidate must have a thorough knowledge of object-oriented design patterns and experience in the design and enhancement of custom Java application frameworks.

Experience developing Java web applications to run on Sun ONE web servers including experience in application performance tuning, with at least 3 years of this experience with SunOne web server 6.1.

Four or more years development experience with application security products or functions.

Four or more years development experience integrating Java applications with a custom security authorization application running on OpenVMS. Command line knowledge of OpenVMS-alpha is required.

Minimum of five years hands-on experience designing Oracle databases and writing Oracle DDL scripts, including at least two years of this experience in Oracle 10g.

Minimum of five years hands-on experience writing Oracle queries and PL/SQL stored procedures, functions, packages, and triggers, including at least two years of this experience in Oracle 10g.

Four years hands-on experience writing Korn shell scripts and command line FTP.

Minimum of 3 years experience in the use of Project management methods and tools.
