Duties Description The incumbent will work under the direction of the Environmental Educator 2 in the Environmental Education & Interpretation/Recreation Department. The incumbent will perform the following duties:
• Assist in the development and implementation of environmental education courses and programs dealing with the various flora, fauna, and historic features of park facilities and the surrounding area.
• Assist in leading a variety of recreational programs in park facilities.
• Generate informational displays and literature as assigned.
• Assist with planning special events and recreational activities as assigned.
• Work with other departments as assigned.
• Support programs at other Regional park facilities as needed.
Additional Comments OPERATIONAL NEEDS:
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.
• A background in natural sciences, environmental studies, conservation, recreation, or education is preferred but not required.
• Normal work shift will be 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. but will include evenings as needed.
• Normal work schedule will be weekdays but will include weekends and holidays as needed.
• The selected candidate must be able to perform medium to heavy physical labor and work in variable weather conditions.
