Minimum Qualifications six years of experience in public relations, social media, and digital communications. Associate’s, bachelor’s, or master’s degree in Communications, English, Public Relations, Social Media, Digital Communications, or similar degree, substitutes for two, four, or five years.
Duties Description • Serve as social media coordinator on the social media team; Assist in the management of content on our social media platforms
• Collaborate with division and regional staff on social media content planning and development for their programs
• Review and post new social media posts that are submitted by program staff
• Assist with responding to questions and comments received on posts or sent to the social media platform inboxes
• Coordinate agency response to social media inquiries
• Coordinate social media messaging with DEC’s Press Office and Executive staff
• Monitor social media sites for content ideas and to ensure information is current, fresh, informative, and appealing
• Film short videos segments and live broadcasts for distribution on social media platforms
• Develop training focus sessions on a variety of social media topics for program staff
• Assist in the production of a DEC podcast (hosts, topics)
• Oversee content development on agency priority messages related to health and safety concerns, regulations, and press release posting coordination
• Assist with special social media and digital projects for the agency (governor initiatives, executive priorities, program campaigns, etc.).

For new State employees appointed to graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts.
