Minimum Qualifications Must have four years of experience under the supervision of an auto body mechanic or completion of an apprenticeship program and possession of a driver's license appropriate to the equipment operated and repaired.
If verifiable, we will accept and prorate part-time and volunteer experience.
Duties Description The incumbent’s primary duties are the maintenance and Motor equipment repair within Bear Mountain State Park. The incumbent will:
• perform skilled tasks, requiring specialized training and experience, to paint, repair, and maintain the bodies and parts of vehicles, equipment, and other property in an agency fleet.
• Repaints equipment and property by cleaning, sandblasting, grinding, filling, and priming.
• Repairs bodies, fenders, and chassis by replacing damaged parts, straightening frames and related parts, and welding, fabricating, scraping, and treating them.
• Removes and replaces body parts and accessories.
• Assists in estimating the costs of repairs to damaged vehicles and equipment.
• Maintains time and cost distribution records.
• Maintains and is responsible for tools, equipment, and inventory assigned to the body and paint shop.
• Requisitions and orders parts, supplies, and equipment.
• Maintains the shop and equipment.
• Supervises staff assigned to the shop.
Additional Comments Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State and must possess a New York State vehicle inspector’s license within 6 months of appointment and must maintain the vehicle inspector’s license as a term and condition of employment.
