Minimum Qualifications Six years of experience in planning, directing, or coordinating transportation, storage, supply chain management, distribution or logistics activities. This must have included experience operating a forklift. Applicants must be physically able to lift/move items weighing 50 or more pounds.
Substituion:
A bachelor's degree may be substituted for up to four years of experience;
OR
An associate s degree may be substituted for up to two years;
OR
30 semester credit hours may be substituted for one year of experience up to a maximum of four years.
Duties Description The incumbent will report to the Office of Emergency Management's Stockpile Unit. Duties include but are not limited to:
• Perform statewide asset tracking and Statewide Financial Services (SFS ) inventory control of the distribution of emergency response equipment.
• Develop and implement quality control procedures for the stockpiles.
•Observe all established protocols for stockpile maintenance, employment, deployment, transportation coordination and recovery.
• Deploy during declared emergencies as required.
• Assist in the development of a preventative Maintenance Program for stockpile readiness.
• Provide responsive, statewide support during emergency situations requiring stockpile items.
• Assist in complete accountability of all items deployed from the stockpile and returned to the stockpiles.
•Assist in the coordination and management of surplus materials.
• Establish and operate Logistic Staging Areas as required.
• Assist Stockpile Regional Supervisors in the day-to-day operations with emphasis on accountability.
• Assist in the issuance of equipment to vendors for maintenance and calibration.
• Ensure complete accountability of all items deployed from the stockpile and returned to the stockpiles.
• Assist in the coordination of return shipments and vendor shipments.
• 25 - 30% travel will be required.
Operating Needs:
• Possession of a valid Driver’s License issued by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles is required.
• Ability to bend, lift, climb and to stand and walk for long periods of time.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to operate a variety of materials handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
• Successful completion of OSHA forklift training and certification within 90 days of appointment.
• Flexibility to work in environments of fluctuating temperatures including limited periods outside, year-round.

NOTE: Support of operations during times of emergency and disaster from State Emergency Operations Center (EOC), state field offices and/or local deployments may be required, which would result in a change and/or increase in working hours, locations and/or duties.
