Job Specifics

Duties Description As an Investigative Officer 2 (Public Work Wage), under the supervision of an Investigative Officer 3 (Public Work Wage), you would supervise the application and enforcement of the provisions of Article 8, 8-A, and 9 of the New York State Labor Law relating to hours of work, wages, fringe benefits and conditions of employment on public construction and building service projects in an assigned area of the state; direct day-to-day operations of an assigned district office; analyze data on wages and fringe benefits; assign work to Investigative Officers, assist them in more difficult investigations, and review Investigative Officers reports; maintain production reports and records of jurisdictions and projects liable under the law; liaison with organized labor in the building trades in the area supervised; and maintain the good will of public officials and advise them on the requirements of the law. You would prepare and give testimony in administrative hearings and in a Court of Law for criminal infractions of Article 8, 8-A, and 9. These positions require travel which may involve occasional overnight, and additional duties as assigned.

Reassignment Qualifications:
Current Department of Labor employees only, with at least one year of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55b/c service in a/an Investigative Officer 2 (PWW); if you have less than one year, you must be reachable on the current Investigative Officer 2 (PWW) eligible list for this location, if one exists.

70.1 Transfer Qualifications:
One year of permanent or contingent-permanent service as an Employment Counselor, SG 18 or Employment Counselor Spanish Language, SG 18.

Provisional Qualifications:
Candidates must be in the Department of Labor promotion field and have one year or more of permanent, contingent-permanent or 55 b/c service as Investigative Officer Trainee (Public Work Wage), Investigative Officer 1 (Public Work Wage), or Public Work Wage Investigator. The appointed candidate would have to take, pass and be reachable on the next holding of the examination to be appointed permanently.

Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to initiate and maintain relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders. Familiarity with WPM & WPP computer applications and general computer knowledge.

Additional Comments This position may require a fingerprint background check prior to appointment.

Position specific job duties may include occasional altered work schedule or job assignments which require availability and willingness to work occasional evenings and/or out-stationed assignments.
