Minimum Qualifications OPEN UNTIL FILLED (This explains why apply by date is so far out into future. If position is filled before then this Posting will come down.)

Candidates must be current state employees and have a reachable score on the Secretary 1 list or have a current permanent appointment with 1 year of service as a Secretary 1 or as a title eligible for transfer to Secretary 1 or appointment as Secretary 1 here at UAlbany, less than 1 year of service (remainder of probationary period to be completed in new assignment), Grade 9 with one year in service looking to do 70.1 two grade jump to grade 11, or be a former state employee eligible for reinstatement to the title of Secretary 1. May be filled from a mandatory reemployment list if one is in effect at the time of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge and/or experience in using MS Word and MS Excel.

Duties Description Provide principal administrative support to the Department of Computer Science
Answer e-mails, phone calls and related correspondence in relation to policy or procedures and refer calls to appropriate faculty or staff member
Provide students, faculty and the general public with assistance regarding programs, policy and procedure.
Liaison with other University offices and departments
Assist with class scheduling, update PeopleSoft, prepare and submit updated scheduling information using appropriate Registrar’s forms
Assist in preparing Human Resources paperwork for departmental hires
Assist graduate and undergraduate directors with student orientation activities and advisement
Set up and maintain student advisement files
Utilize PeopleSoft system to gather data relevant to departmental activities
Schedule meetings and maintain calendars
Assist with travel arrangements and prepare travel vouchers
Assist with conferences; assemble and coordinate background materials for meetings and conferences
Maintain inventory and requisition office supplies
Coordinate departmental purchasing, coordinating with faculty and CCI staff
Maintain accounting records
Supervise student staff

Ideal opportunity for Grade 9 with one year in service looking for Promotion to Grade 11. Typing proficiency test will be given if necessary at SUNY.
