Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
1. Transfer eligibility requirement: you must have a current permanent appointment with a minimum of 1 year of service in a position of the same title or transferable title.
2. Reassignment requirement: You must hold the same title at the University at Buffalo.
3. Reinstatement requirement: You must be a former state employee to request reinstatement to the title that was held (or transferable title).

Duties Description Position Summary:
Shift supervisor of the police force on duty. Tours the campus and directly observes University Police Officers on the job to assess the effectiveness and efficiency of their performance and provide onsite instruction in law enforcement techniques. May respond to scenes of incidents involving but not limited to crimes, arrests, major accidents, injuries, deaths and fires in order to personally direct security activities. Prepares a variety of written narrative and form reports of shift activities in order to advise the supervisor of the nature and extent of security problems and the effectiveness of the public safety force in handling them; in preparing these reports, uses data submitted and verified in subordinates’ logs and reports. Performs many of the same range of duties as University Police Officer 1. May be responsible for the department’s training program, crime prevention program or community policing function. Shift supervisor of the police force on duty; performs the full range of duties assigned to University Police Officer 1; reports to an unclassified service police position.
