Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications Applicants must be licensed and currently registered to practice psychology in New York State.
AND
• In title Licensed Psychologist, Grade 25

- OR –
• Eligible for a 70.1 transfer by way of current permanent status in a title deemed comparable to
Licensed Psychologist by the Department of Civil Service (must also be within 2 salary grades of grade 25)

- OR –

• For Provisional appointment candidates must have at least one year of permanent service as a Psychologist 2 or Associate Psychologist.

Duties Description PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of the Chief Psychologist at Capital District Region 3 and in coordination with treatment team leaders the Licensed Psychologist clinically supervises and manages the activities of the master’s level psychologists at Capital District DDSO. The incumbent also provides a full range of psychological services, training, and consultation services to clinical teams, direct support staff, and individuals as needed.

Provides clinical supervision for the Capital District Region 3 master’s level psychologists

• Convenes meetings of agency psychologists to discuss issues related to the discipline
• Provides technical assistance and direction and reviews/approves routine care documentation
• Conducts evaluations as required by Licensed Psychologists
• Participates as a member of the Behavior Review Committee to review and guide behavior support plans


Provides consultation and assistance to operations and regional service teams

• Samples and reviews management of cases, assignments, case problems, issues and methods of treatment by treatment team staff
• Consults with managers regarding issues specific to state operations, voluntary provider issues or matters related to local government or to other local entities

Provides training

• Participates in planning and assessing training needs for both psychologists and direct support staff members
• Selects and facilitates appropriate ongoing training for psychologist and direct support staff members

Provides forensic services

• Conducts forensic evaluations, including competency, risk, and suitability assessments as needed
• Attends court proceedings and testifies as needed

Participates in the eligibility process

• Assists with the completion of second and/or third step reviews to determine eligibility for OPWDD services
• Completes guardianship assessments and documentation
• Attends Fair Hearings or other legal proceedings related to eligibility as needed

Performs administrative tasks

• Serves as part of the Administrator on Duty rotation
• Assists in tracking behavioral data
• Serves as a member of agency committees per clinical interest and area of need

Additional Comments ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
