Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications 30 semester credit hours, including 12 semester credit hours in fisheries; marine resources or wildlife management; mariculture; marine biology; aquaculture; aquatic, marine or terrestrial ecology; zoology; marine technology; botany; limnology; hydrology; or oceanography.

Duties Description Assist in regional ruffed grouse project. Work will consist of capturing, banding and placing transmitters on ruffed grouse. Locate birds one to two times per week via radio telemetry.

Essential Skills incude: GPS operation and GIS data manipulation, radio telemetry, familiarity with MS Excel, operating UTV/ATV and snowmobile.

Additional Comments Must have valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain, work in remote areas and in adverse weather conditions. Travel may be required. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds. Experience in radio telemetry.

This is a seasonal, hourly appointment with a duration of 8/1/18- 3/31/19. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date, which may be prior to dates listed in duties description. Actual work schedule, duties, and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at the interview.
