Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree plus eight years relevant experience as a police officer within a major metropolitan area or comparable investigative experience and at least three years of demonstrated internal investigative experience. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Criminal Justice, Finance, Political Science, Business Administration or Public Administration plus eight years relevant experience as a police officer within a major metropolitan area, or comparable investigative experience preferably in the area of fraud and white collar crime and at least three years of demonstrated internal investigative experience and/or experience with investigations dealing with the NYC metropolitan construction industry. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Current Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified Fraud Specialist, Certified Public Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, or Certified Inspector General Investigator designation. Fluency in a foreign language may be required depending on the location of the position.

Duties Description Primary Purpose
The Investigative Auditor investigates allegations of criminal wrong doing, fraud, abuse, conflicts of interest and corruption within DASNY and its programs.
Essential Functions
• Assist in confidential internal investigations into allegations involving staff and contractor/vendor serious misconduct/corruption and recommend corrective measures.
• Assist in confidential internal investigations into allegations involving workplace or domestic violence issues and recommend corrective measures.
• Conduct interviews and interrogations; interview witnesses, complainants and subjects of investigations.
• Perform covert surveillance related to investigations.
• Prepare detailed and complex reports of investigative findings and recommendations in relation to assigned cases.
• Serve as liaison with various law enforcement agencies; interact and cooperate with law enforcement, investigative, and prosecutorial agencies as required.
• Receive Internal Affairs Hotline complaints; investigate and ensure proper disposition.
• Conduct background checks and perform database searches.
• Conduct site visits, attend project kick-off meetings, and conduct trainings, in assigned geographical area, as part of proactive measures to prevent corruption.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist in training and other proactive activities to promote ethics and fraud awareness and prevention among DASNY staff and DASNY’s Working Partners.
• Assist in prevailing wage reviews to assess compliance with Labor Law 220.
• Assist in vulnerability assessments or integrity tests of policies, programs, and projects to identify susceptibility to mismanagement, fraud, and waste and recommend corrective strategies.
• May train and evaluate employees.
• Assist with the development, documentation, and implementation of procedures.
• Assist with the assessment/development and implementation of internal controls, and participate in the review and testing of same.
• Undertake special assignments as directed.
• Must maintain regular attendance in accordance with DASNY attendance and leave policies.
• Must adhere to the NYS Information Security Policy Standards established and issued by the Office of Information Technology Services. (Standards can be found on the Intranet).

May supervise one or more employees.
Physical/Mental/Visual Demands
Must be available for on-call duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to meet whatever needs may arise in the event of a riot, civil disorder, natural disaster or crimes against persons or property. Daily travel is required to various project sites using public transportation, DASNY vehicle, rental vehicle or personal vehicle. This travel may include overnight stays at public accommodations and related establishments. Requires physical mobility (movement from place to place). Requires concentration (prolonged mental effort with limited opportunity to rest). Requires complex and time-pressured decision-making.

Standard office environment, including the use of one or more of the following: PC, telephone, fax machine, printer, copier, scanner, electronic stapler, three-hole punch, date stamp, shredder.
**Position rates additional $5,054 annual location differential**
