Minimum Qualifications Current Department of Health (DOH) employee with permanent or contingent-permanent status as a Medical Assistance Specialist 1; OR current NYS employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent, competitive service in a title eligible to transfer under Section 52.6, Section 70.1, or Section 70.4 of the Civil Service Law to a Medical Assistance Specialist 1. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of NYS Medicaid Managed Care (MMC). Experience in managing multiple projects. Experience with proofreading complex materials and providing technical assistance to outside organizations.

Duties Description The Medical Assistance Specialist 1 (MAS1), grade 18, will perform a range of tasks related to the development, implementation and provision of subject matter expertise for Medicaid policy initiatives related to MRT initiatives and the NY State of Health benefit exchange. Duties may include coordination and development of programs, policies, and work plans; conducting research and develop policy options and recommendations for eligibility and enrollment activities; working with systems staff to make changes reflecting new policies; participating in meetings, corresponding with interested parties and stakeholders; and monitoring contract activities and deliverables.
