Job Specifics
Minimum Qualifications Candididates must have permanent status as an Office Assistant 1 (Keyboarding), Grade 6, and be eligible for lateral transfer; OR be eligible for transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
Candidates who are not transferring from a keyboarding title must possess adequate keyboarding skills (i.e., the ability to type 35 words per minute corrected) as demonstrated by passing the Keyboarding Performance Test.
Individuals certified eligible for the 55b/c program under the Governor’s Program to Hire Persons/Veterans with Disabilities pursuant to Section 55b/c of the Civil Service Law will also be considered. Please provide a copy of your eligibility letter with your response.
Duties Description The Office of Mental Health (OMH) is recruiting to fill an Office Assistant 1 (Keyboarding), Grade 6, position in the Office of Financial Management, State Operations Finance Group, Syracuse Patient Resources Office. The Patient Resources Office (PRO) is responsible for documenting financial resources of mental health clients and/or their family members in order to determine reimbursement sources to pay for services and to determine eligibility for benefits. Specific duties to be performed may include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Perform a variety of office support duties such as filing, photocopying, completion of billing forms, and data entry
• Answer phones and route calls/messages to appropriate staff
• Assist agents as needed.
• Process paperwork, sort mail, fax, and miscellaneous duties & projects as assigned.
• Create, organize and maintain paper and electronic files.
• Prepare routine correspondence as needed.
• Process census for three facilities.
• Monitor shared mailbox daily for outpatient screenings for three facilities.
