Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications Must be licensed to practice as a General Radiologic Technologist in New York State.

Good knowledge of human skeletal anatomy. Good knowledge of standard techniques of radiologic examination and treatment. Good knowledge of specific safety precautions which must be observed in conducting radiological examinations and administering treatments. Working knowledge of anatomical nomenclature. Working knowledge of symptoms of radiation sickness. Ability to relate to patients including those who may be anxious or distressed. Ability to relate to Physicians in reporting information concerning examinations and treatments and in following precise authoritative commands. Ability to handle, manipulate, and operate radiologic equipment. Ability to accurately record information concerning treatments and examinations.

Duties Description Operate equipment generating penetrating radiant energy in performing radiological examinations of patients in order to provide Physicians with data used in diagnosis or treatment. They also operate equipment and instruments producing radiation including instruments utilizing radioisotopes in order to administer radiation therapy treatments to patients under a Physician's prescription and direction. Radiologic Technologists are classified at state health care facilities.
