Job Specifics
Minimum Qualifications Eligible for a lateral transfer, or a 70.1 transfer by having one year of permanent competitive or 55 b/c service in an appropriate title.

Reachable on the appropriate eligible list in Albany.
Duties Description These positions will be located within the Employment and Income Support Programs (EISP) area in either the State Supplement Program's (SSP) Customer Support Center (CSC), the SSP work units, or the SSP Fair Hearings Unit.
Customer Support Center (CSC)
Under the direction of a Grade 9 supervisor, duties include, but are not limited to:
• Answer the telephones following CSC Unit protocols;
• Enter data from call into SSP system;
• Initiate the mailing of documents to recipients/provider agencies;
• Escalate issues to supervisor/Work Units as needed;
• Direct recipients to internal or external resources as necessary. For example: Social Security Administration (SSA), Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP);
• Create work items for the work units;
• Assist other units as necessary;
• Communicate with all co-workers (both verbally and written); and
• Return phone calls.
State Supplement Program (SSP) Work Unit
Under the direction of a Grade 9 supervisor, duties include, but are not limited to:
• Opening new SSP cases;
• Processing changes reported from various sources by updating client records and initiating the case actions;
• Calculating regular, manual and retroactive payments;
• Issuing all program related notices;
• Conducting re-determinations and initiating recoveries;
• Reviewing forms for completeness;
• Requesting information from recipients;
• Responding to recipient requests;
• Entering and retrieving information from the SSP computer system;
• Answering questions from recipients/providers/financial institutions;
• Faxing, mailing, and emailing recipients & vendors; and
• Reviewing activity/exception reports.
Fair Hearings
Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Generating the daily fair hearing report from the Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH);
• Reviewing fair hearing requests to identify issues;
• Organizing daily fair hearing requests;
• Data entry of fair hearing information;
• Creating screen shots;
• Making copies of fair hearing defense packets;
• Routing completed packets to OAH;
• Preparing packets for mail out; and
• Monitoring temporary staff in addressing envelopes and stuffing hearing packets for mail out and filing.
Additional Comments Full-time, permanent appointments will be made. If certified by Civil Service, mandatory reemployment list candidates must be considered first for appointment to these titles.
