Provisional - Human Resources Specialist 4 Benefits OR Human Resources Specialist 4 Benefits Contracts with one year of competitive service.

Candidates must be current New York State Department of Civil Service employees to apply for this position. To apply for this position, candidates must be current New York State Department of Civil Service employees and must have one year of competitive service as a Human Resources Specialist 4 Benefits OR Human Resources Specialist 4 Benefits Contract (M-2).

Duties Description The Human Resources Specialist 5 Benefits will be assigned to the Contract Management Unit of the Employee Benefits Division (EBD) and will be responsible for:

• Supervising Contract Management Unit staff and coordinating the procurement activities for the $10 billion New York State Health Insurance Program (NYSHIP).

• Administering contracts with NYSHIP vendors, which includes monitoring vendor performance and seeking ways to make employee benefits more cost effective.

• Working with NYSHIP vendors to implement collectively bargained benefit program changes.

• Ensuring compliance with all applicable State and Federal laws and regulations, including State Insurance Law and State Finance Law.
