Minimum Qualifications This position is open to candidates who are reachable on the Program Aide, G-13, Civil Service eligible list OR employees at or above G-11 who are eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service law. In order to qualify for Section 70.1 transfer, candidates must have one year of permanent competitive service in a title that is defined by Section 70.1 and, the transfer is not a second consecutive transfer resulting in an advancement of more than two (2) salary grade levels. Examples of qualifying titles are Secretary 1, G-11 and Agency Program Aid, G-13.

The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal and communication skills and enjoy working in a fast-paced team environment. The candidate will have the ability to work proficiently in the Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Outlook, Excel and Word) and learn the use of other State financial databases. Administrative support experience in a comparable capacity and an interest in health care finance, budgeting or continued professional development within the Division of the Budget, is desirable.

Duties Description The position is for an Office Manager within the Health Unit of the Division of the Budget. The Unit consists of 25 professional staff that are responsible for the oversight of the Medicaid Program and health care finance and the preparation and negotiation of the Department of Health, Office of the Medicaid Inspector General and Office for the Aging annual budgets.

The Office Manager is an essential member of the team and will work with Unit staff, at the direction of Unit management, to accept, distribute, coordinate, track and ensure the effective and timely completion of all Unit work products. The incumbent will also provide general office support and reception, including answering phones for senior staff, maintaining electronic and paper files, scheduling meetings, receiving visitors, identifying and managing maintenance issues with office equipment and inventorying and ordering office supplies.

Occasionally overtime may be needed on evenings and weekends during times of peak workload, generally associated with the development and negotiation of the Budget and the closedown of the Legislative session.
