Job Specifics
Minimum Qualifications Two years of experience in maintenance or mechanical work under the supervision of a skilled trade worker or completion of an appropriate two-year technical school
course.
Duties Description Under the direction of a General Mechanic, the Maintenance Assistant performs semi-skilled activities in carpentry, painting, plumbing, masonry, and electric. This individual may operate various tools and equipment such as drills, sanders, saws, pumps and electrical diagnostics. Typically, these tools are used in the repair or replacement of various building systems. Typical use of equipment includes snow blowers, plow trucks, lawn mowers, and small bucket loaders. This individual will also be responsible for the maintenance and repair of this equipment.
Using provided equipment, this individual will be responsible for interior window cleaning and the extraction of carpet spills during normal hours. This position may at times have interaction with the night cleaning supervisor to coordinate after-hours cleaning needs and discuss procurement of supplies. Additionally, this individual is responsible for coordinating the paper recycling program.

Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
Ability to perform moderate to heavy manual labor.
Knowledge of safety standards and procedures.
Knowledge of materials, tools and equipment used in the trade assigned.
Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
