Job Specifics

Minimum Qualifications A bachelor's degree and six years of experience in a position with a public or private agency involving the provision of employment services, benefits and protections to the farm worker community including migrant farm workers, migrant food processing workers, or seasonal farm workers. One year of this experience must have included the review, interpretation and administration of program policy and operating procedure and responsibility for the accomplishment of program goals.

Substitution: A Master's or professional degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Business, Agricultural Economics, Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, Auditing, Finance, Marketing, International Studies, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a Law Degree can be substituted for up to two years of general experience.

In addition, candidates must be proficient in the Spanish language at a level that will ensure their ability to perform the duties of the position.
Examples of Qualifying Experience: outreach, referral for placement, counseling, complaint handling and review of wages, terms and conditions of employment for compliance purposes.

Duties Description Under the general direction of the Director of the Division of Immigrant Policies and Affairs, you would monitor and evaluate the complaint system for all employment service applicants and, as an advocate, you would assist in the development of practices aimed at insuring that migrant and seasonal farm workers are offered the full range of services available from the New York State Department of Labor.
