Minimum Qualifications Permanent appointment:
Permanent service in this title or reachable on the appropriate Civil Service List; or one year of permanent competitive service in a title SG-16 or higher and otherwise eligible for transfer.
Provisional appointment:
A bachelor's degree including nine (9) semester credit hours in statistics, economics, econometrics, or research methods and two years of subsequent professional research experience in the collection and evaluation of quantitative data directed toward review and analysis of program operations. Candidates must also have at least three years of research experience in the field of criminal justice (a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice may be substituted for one year or a master’s degree in criminal justice may be substituted for two years of this experience).
Duties Description The Program Research Specialist 2 (CJ) will be assigned to the Office of Justice Research and Performance. The position involves analyzing criminal justice data and preparing reports and statistics. The incumbent will manipulate large data sets, prepare monthly and quarterly performance reports, summarize criminal justice trends and prepare high level policy presentations. The incumbent will also manage data submissions and analyze agency performance data.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience presenting complex data and information to high level and nontechnical audiences; comfortable manipulating data and good attention to detail; must have strong analytical, writing, and communication skills; able to work well in team settings, as this position involves extensive interaction with DCJS colleagues and other agencies.
