Minimum Qualifications This is a labor class position. There are no education or experience qualifications for this class. Laborers must be physically able to perform the duties assigned. 

Duties Description Specific duties to be performed may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Provide assistance in mixing and spreading mortar on surfaces.

Remove broken or loose plaster and otherwise prepare surfaces for mason/plasterer work.

Prepare surface and apply primer and finish coats of paint on walls, window trim, doors and jams, and rigi board under the supervision of skilled and semiskilled trades workers.

Perform ongoing maintenance, small repair and environmental improvement projects.

Perform heavy cleaning, building maintenance, and painting as needed.

Load and unload heavy equipment, supplies, and furniture from trucks. Set up and break down equipment.

Move heavy furniture, office equipment and supplies.

Maintain grounds by mowing grass, sweeping, raking, shoveling, and removing by hand debris, branches, snow, ice, trash, etc.

Assist trade workers by performing manual tasks such as lifting and placing equipment, maintain machinery, equipment and tools.

Provide assistance with the installation and repair/replacement of such materials as ceiling and floor tiles and waterproof floor and wall sub-systems.

Additional Comments The Office of Mental Health (OMH) is recruiting to fill three Laborer positions. These are temporary/hourly positions in the Bureau of Environmental Design and Improvement located in the Central New York area. These positions will be part of our Central New York Revite team. The Central New York Revite team travels to various facilities in the Central New York area performing special project renovations, ongoing maintenance, small repair and environmental improvementprojects. This region includes Albany, Binghamton, Marcy, Utica, and Syracuse. Candidates are not eligible for reimbursement of travel costs. 

The estimated duration of this assignment is 9 months. Upon completion of the assignment, these positions will be terminated.
