Minimum Qualifications 1) Current NYS employee with one year of permanent or contingent-permanent service as a Senior Auditor, OR current NYS employee with one year of permanent or contingent-permanent service in a title designated as eligible for transfer to Senior Auditor under 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
2) The position may also be filled at the Senior Auditor or Auditor Trainee level by appointment of a candidate from the lists generated from the Professional Careers in Accounting and Auditing open-competitive examination. If filled as a trainee, the selected candidate must successfully complete a two-year traineeship.

Duties Description Senior Auditors perform research on the functions of the organization to be audited to determine its purpose, organization, funds involved, and applicable laws, rules, and regulations governing its operation; assist in establishing the scope of the audit by analyzing and determining areas for audit and the time frame to be examined; assist in planning audit activities, including specific audit tasks, and recommend audit schedule; conduct financial and fee for service audits by performing various tests, reviews, reconciliations, and evaluations of accounts, claims, records, and procedures to ensure that transactions are processed and properly accounted for and effective internal controls are in place; evaluate the organization being audited by comparing performance to contractual requirements and standards; prepare working papers to document audit scope and conclusions; discuss audit findings with representatives of the organization and participates in exit conferences; as Auditor-in-Charge, lead other Senior Auditors and Auditor Trainees as applicable. Travel approximately 50%.
