Minimum Qualifications One year of permanent competitive or 55 b/c service as a Youth Counselor 1 or Youth Counselor 1 Spanish Language or eligible for a 70.1 transfer. OR Provisional Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and two years of direct counseling, educational, clinical or child supervisory experience in prevention, protection or rehabilitative programs for adolescent between the ages of 10 and 21 years who are generally considered to be “juvenile delinquents,” “youthful offenders” or other “at risk” youth. Provisional appointments may be considered in areas where the Civil Service lists have been exhausted. Note: For Spanish language positions, you must demonstrate and pass a Spanish language test to show your ability to understand Spanish and to speak it fluently.


Duties Description Supervise, evaluate, guide and mentor juvenile and youthful offenders, juvenile delinquents or other “at-risk” youth referred to the Office of Children and Family Services. Additional duties will be discussed in detail during the interview.

Additional Comments The test for the Youth Counselor 1 (Spanish Language) has been announced and the deadline for applications is April 23, 2014.
