Minimum Qualifications You must have permanent service as a Community Correction Representative 1, or a reachable score on the Civil Service eligible list for this title. This position is not eligible for transfer under Civil Service Law.

If you are applying under Section 55b/c, you must meet the open-competitive qualifications of: a bachelor's degree and two years of professional experience at the federal, state, or local level in a criminal justice/juvenile justice agency or a human services agency, which involved providing services to a criminal justice/juvenile justice population. Examples of non-qualifying experience: service as a Correction Officer or paraprofessional is not considered qualifying experience. Examples of Human Services Agencies: Mental health, substance abuse and treatment, and counseling agencies. You must have current documentation that you are eligible for 55b/c appointment.

Duties Description This position is located in the Interstate Compact Unit, which guides the transfer of offenders between states. The incumbent assists with the oversight of Interstate Operations and supervises support staff. The incumbent monitors the workload distribution of Interstate cases, provides reports to the State Director as requested, processes reviewable Interstate cases (sex offenders, domestic violence, child victim and victim sensitive cases), provides technical assistance to Interstate Designees in all counties of New York State, fields requests for information from the Interstate Compact Offices of other states, and serves as the contact person for questions concerning Intrastate transfers of adults and juvenile offenders. Incumbent would be responsible for training Interstate Unit staff, county designees, and other probation department staff in the areas of adult and/or juvenile interstate transfers.
