Minimum Qualifications Candidates holding a permanent position of Senior Attorney may be eligible for reassignment or transfer.

Duties Description The incumbent of this position will work in the Queens District Office and be assigned to the Legal Hearings Unit. Significant duties will include legal representation of the Uninsured Employers’ Fund at workers compensation hearings primarily in Queens, Hempstead and Hauppauge. Appearances are also required in the Brooklyn, White Plains and Manhattan offices on an as-needed basis. Other duties may include representation of the Board in other locations; preparation of appeals; writing memoranda of law; conducting depositions; ordering medical exams; conducting research and special projects on request; and supervising a file clerk. The position requires strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work independently.

Additional Comments You must be a NYS government employee, or a reachable candidate on the Legal Specialties Civil Service eligible list to be eligible to apply for this position.
