Minimum Qualifications Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 1, G-14, or
52.6 Transfer: in a position at the G-12 level or above and are eligible to transfer under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law;
or in a title designated appropriate for Section 70.1 transfer of the Civil Service Law such as Information Technology Assistant, G-12 or Senior Computer Operator, G-14. A transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in an advancement of more than two grades.

Preferred Qualifications:

• One year of experience in desktop support in a networked environment.
• Basic knowledge of network architecture and terminology.
• Experience in installing, using, maintaining and providing customer support using workstation tools, including office automation tools, email, and remote control software.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including written and oral communications. Must be able to work with both technical and non-technical personnel.
• Excellent organizational skills.

Duties Description The incumbent of information Technology Specialist 1 (ITS1) is to be the primary point of contact for all user service requests at Helen Hayes Hospital (HHH), including emergency requests for assistance. The ITS1 will work with clients in person and over the telephone to resolve their problems and properly triage their requests for assistance.

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Function as the primary communications link between IT staff during resolution of helpdesk requests.
• Adhere to Hospital HIPAA Policy and Procedure in a consistent manner. Comply with HIPPA privacy regulations by accessing the minimum amount of Protected Health Care Information (PHI) required to perform ITS1 duties.
• Provide the HHH community a single source of contact for professional support in matters relating to workstation applications, implementations and user requests.
• Work closely with other IT personnel to resolve client problems in a timely and efficient manner.
• Originate, revise, and act upon user requests as appropriate.
• Maintain a helpdesk call log, utilizing the Track-it Helpdesk application, in a sufficient fashion to log calls, track requests, resolutions, time to resolution, time spent on requests and code classification to trend request types and user patterns.
• Triage requests and classify them based on type and effect on the ability of HHH staff to accomplish their assigned duties.
• Diagnose and resolve simple problems.
• Service those needs which can be resolved by remote and or desk side support.
• Escalate requests requiring higher-level support.
• Monitor activity on all requests until they are resolved.
• Respond to requests for new or enhanced services.
• Identify the need for new functions, activities and services.
• Respond to Meditech Usage requests.

Additional Comments This Office of Information Technology Services position is located in the Health Cluster at Helen Hayes Hospital in West Haverstraw, NY. This position supports a 24 hour/7day a week facility and occasional overtime may be required.
