Minimum Qualifications For Permanent Appointment: Candidates must currently be employed as an Environmental Analyst 1, reachable on the Environmental Analyst 1 eligible list, or eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law by having at least one year of permanent competitive service as an Environmental Program Specialist 1, SG-18.

Duties Description The Environmental Analyst 1 (EA1), SG-18 position serves under the supervision of the Capital Facilities Manager based in the Long Island Regional Office. The EA1 performs a variety of tasks related to the integration of environmental factors and considerations into the decision making of OPRHP. These tasks would include conducting environmental impact assessment of proposed actions with a particular focus on the capital projects across the region; conducting office evaluations and field investigations; conducting inter-disciplinary environmental and regulatory reviews; interfacing with government agencies and the public on environmental review and permitting procedures; and managing, tracking and scheduling project review and implementation activities. The Environmental Analyst 1 would also serve as project manager on a broad range of projects and interpret environmental laws and regulations to evaluate project impacts. The focus of the EA1 position is stewardship of the natural resources within State Parks, working closely with regional staff, environmental analysts, biologists, and Natural Heritage Program (NHP) scientists.
