Minimum Qualifications One year of permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 2 (Prog) OR in a position at G-16 or higher deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of Civil Service Law. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in advancement of more than two salary grades.

Preferred Quals

• Seven years’ experience performing application development work in Oracle PL/SQL and SQl using Oracle 11i utilizing Oracle ProCobol and Microfocus Netexpress software in a Windows server environment.
• Six years’ experience performing development work using PERL to create batch executable scripts and manipulating files under the control of a Tivioli scheduler in a 24/7 production environment.

Duties Description Duties will include, but not be limited to:

• Participate in all phases of system development activities, including requirement gathering, design, development, testing and deployment of:
o Written reports of user requirements are thorough and complete.
o Modifications adhere to prevailing standards, are thoroughly tested and completed on schedule. Programming tasks may be done in COBOL, Java, SQL+ or Perl.
o Standard migration processes across multiple environments are followed. Migrations will use NetExpress of other agency standard.
• Investigate and respond, via phone and emails, to questions and concerns from the WRT’s user community regarding existing systems and proposals for enhancements.
• Responsible for monitoring daily operational processes by reviewing the results in daily log files and resolving any anomalies. Respond, via phone and email, to any reported problems or concerns from production control’s staff. Candidate must be reachable during non-business hours to resolve critical problems.
• Responsible for necessary migrations of Microfocus and Oracle software across multiple servers with multiple environments. Ensure all applications can continue to access servers 24/7.
• Work effectively with other team members to ensure the success of all projects assigned to the work group. This will involve sharing solutions to common problems, as well as coordinating activities with conflicting time schedules.

Additional Comments This is an Office of Information Technology Services (ITS) position in the Human Services Cluster and will be located at 40 North Pearl Street, Albany. Some positions may require fingerprinting.
