Minimum Qualifications Please Note: You must be employed by New York State to be eligible for appointment to this position.

Duties Description The Statewide Pre-Release Services unit is a new unit that will monitor inmate-patients as they transition into the community, ensuring their successful and safe reentry. The incumbent will review records of those individuals nearing the end of their sentence in a DOCCS facility, and provide clinical guidance and assessments to the State-wide Pre-Release Coordinators and facility staff on matters of risk assessment, treatment standards, and discharge planning, as well as appropriateness for ICM and AOT placements. Under the general direction of a higher-level Mental Health Program Specialist, the incumbent will be required to handle more complex issues and to exercise a high-level of independent professional judgment throughout the course of activities. The incumbent will be involved with assessments to Central Office and facility staff on matters of risk assessment, treatment standards, and client readiness for release from hospital and/or Criminal Procedure Law conditions. The Licensed Master Social Worker 2 will also interface with facility forensic coordinators in monitoring clinical and legal case needs. 

Additional Comments The Office of Mental Health is recruiting qualified State employees to fill a position of Licensed Master Social Worker 2, Grade 20 in the Division of Forensic Services, Statewide Pre-Release Services unit. The Statewide Pre-Release Services unit is conveniently located on the grounds of the Capital District Psychiatric Center at 75 New Scotland Avenue, Albany, New York. We offer a comfortable working environment with covered parking available on site for a nominal monthly fee.
