Minimum Qualifications Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 2 (Programming), SG-18; OR who are in a title designated appropriate for transfer under Section 70.1 of Civil Service Law, such as Supervising Computer Operator, SG 18; OR who are eligible to transfer under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law. Examples of qualifying titles under Section 52.6 include Information Technology Specialist 2, SG-18; Business Systems Analyst 1, SG-18; and Telecommunications Analyst 2, SG-18. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in an advancement of more than two grade levels. Candidates reachable on the eligible list will be considered through a canvass and need not apply.
Duties Description The incumbent will work at the Department of Transportation within the Transportation/Economic Development Cluster.
The incumbent will be responsible for:
a) Development of new computer application systems built and deployed using a variety of technologies including MS Access, Application Express, JAVA, and Oracle Forms and Reports
b) Maintaining computer systems deployed using the above mentioned technologies.
Illustrative duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
•Analyzing, coding, and system testing new and modified legacy applications. This includes developing applications utilizing MS Access, Application Express, JAVA, and Oracle Forms and Reports.
• Performing the application maintenance activities for application systems.
• Performing unit testing, migration to the system test environment, and assisting business units with related system testing activities prior to migration to production.
• Attending meetings with customer management, users, vendors, and IT staff to determine options for meeting program requirements.
• Assisting with maintaining documentation related to development, maintenance, and support activities relating to applications.
Additional Comments Some positions require fingerprinting.
