Minimum Qualifications Interested candidates must be eligible to transfer under section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law. Candidates must have at least one year of permanent competitive or 55 b/c service in a qualifying title allocated to a grade 23 or higher. Qualified candidates must hold a Juris Doctorate degree and be admitted to the Bar to practice law in New York State.

Duties Description The incumbent will work in the Office of General Counsel assigned to the Litigation Unit. The Senior Attorney will be primarily responsible for providing legal support for litigation commenced by and against the Board, including third party action and collections; perform legal research in connection with correspondence received by the Board; respond to legal inquiries made by litigation stakeholders; represent the Board in connection with bankruptcy proceeding; and perform special legal projects as requested. The Senior Attorney will prepare legal papers, either directly or in conjuncture with the Attorney General's Office and/or outside counsel, in connection with lawsuits commenced by the Board and against the Board. The Senior Attorney will be cross-trained to understand applications for administrative review and Full Board Review, so that he/she can prepare proposed memorandum of decisions concerning such applications.
