Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as an Information Technology Specialist 2 OR have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in a title SG-16 or above deemed eligible to transfer under Sections 52.6 or 70.1 of the Civil Service Law OR be reachable on the Civil Service eligible list for this title.

*Leads to a maximum salary of $66,494 based on annual performance advances.
Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s Office of P-12 Education is seeking candidates for the position of Information Technology Specialist 2 in the Office of Information and Reporting Services (IRS). This Office is responsible for the collection and reporting of student and educator data for school districts, public schools, charter schools, and nonpublic schools in New York State. In doing so, the IRS office provides technical assistance and end-user support for a number of online applications, including but not limited to, online documentation, web resources, help desk, and online tools. The incumbent in this position will serve as a critical member of the P-12 Engage NY Team and perform various information technology activities that require higher level specialized skills in one or more technical specialties. The incumbent will also participate in planning, analysis, design, development, implementation, and project management including the P-12 web redesign project. The duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Support and maintain online web resources, such as the Engage NY web site (www.engageny.org) and the Information and Reporting Services web site (www.p12.nysed.gov/irs);
• Provide Tier I Help Desk support to agency users, external users and public users;
• Respond to Help Desk tickets via email or phone calls;
• Receive and log all incoming Help Desk requests via the office’s ticketing system;
• Ensure incidents and requests are acted on within approved timeframes and act as the central point of contact through completion of the incident or request;
• Provide additional tools to provide support to end-users with respect to understanding our public data, such as comparison and mapping tools to help users better analyze data trends;
• Draft reports and correspondence concerning project specifications, activities and status; and
• Lead work teams, and trains and mentors lower level staff.
Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a permanent appointment. Filling of this position is contingent upon Division of Budget approval.
