Minimum Qualifications Filled by PCO (List # 20-141). You must have a bachelor’s degree or higher with 18 semester credit hours in economics AND 6 semester credit hours in computer science, economics, econometrics, mathematics, operations research, research methods and/or statistics.
ADVANCED PLACEMENT: In addition to the above, you may be appointed to the full title Economist (Labor Research), Grade 14 if you have taken and passed the PCO (List # 20-141) AND you have one year performing economic research and analysis in one of the following areas: general business, industrial trends, markets, prices, housing, agriculture, banking, population, labor market trends and issues and/or the environmental field.

Transfer Opportunity: For a Section 70.4 transfer you must meet the above minimum qualifications, have one year of permanent competitive service and have a passing score on the PCO (List #20-141). All other transfer criteria for a Section 70.4 transfer must be met.
You must have one year of permanent competitive service as an Economist, Grade 14 and meet all other transfer criteria for a Section 70.1 transfer under the Civil Service Law.
Duties Description As an Economist (Labor Research) you will collect, analyze and disseminate data used by the Department of Labor’s Division of Research and Statistics (R&S).
The incumbent will use databases for the collection, analysis and manipulation of employment, economic and program data; spreadsheet programs are used to process, manipulate and present data. Incumbent will assist in developing reports on labor market and program data using tabular, graphic, oral and narrative means. Responsibilities include responding to requests for information from within and outside the Labor Department. At the Trainee level, under supervision, you will assist in the above duties, gaining experience in a one year traineeship to bring you to the full performance level of an Economist (Labor Research), Grade 14.
