Minimum Qualifications Current Department of Health (DOH) employee with permanent or contingent-permanent competitive status as an Administrative Assistant, (AA) G-18; OR current NYS employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent competitive service in a title at or above G-18 and eligible to transfer to an AA G-18 under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law; OR current NYS employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent competitive service in an administrative traineeship and eligible to transfer to an AA trainee under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law; OR current NYS employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent competitive service in a title at or above G-13 and eligible to transfer to an AA Trainee 1 under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law; OR current NYS employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent competitive service as a Senior Accountant, G-18 and eligible to transfer to an AA Trainee 2 under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law; OR current NYS employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent competitive service in a title at or above G-11 and eligible to transfer to an AA Trainee 1 under Section 70.4 of the Civil Service Law.
Preferred Qualifications:
The preferred candidate would have progressively responsible professional work experience in the administrative support of a large, multi-faceted public health program with excellent communication, analytical, computer and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities. Knowledge of or previous experience with Fiscal Management.
Duties Description The Administrative Assistant will work in the Local Assistance Unit of the Bureau of Supplemental Food Program’s Fiscal Management Section. Duties will include assisting with the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program’s fiscal and caseload activities and analyses that support the management of the WIC Program; tracking various projects and initiatives and monitoring Unit bureau mail logs; preparing and delivering fiscal/budget training to WIC State and Local Agency staff; collaborating to develop and submit periodic narrative and statistical reports for Bureau management; drafting written requests for Department and USDA approval (e.g. renovation requests); and performing other administrative activities as requested.
Additional Comments Permanent, full-time. Occasional Statewide travel, including overnights and travel to areas that may not be served by public transportation, may be required.
