Minimum Qualifications Current New York State employees must be eligible for 70.1 transfer by: 1) having one year of permanent competitive service as a Nurse 2, Health Services Nurse or Teaching and Research Center Nurse 2; OR 2) must be licensed and currently registered to practice nursing in New York State AND have one year of permanent competitive service in a Section 70.1 title approved for transfer. Examples of approved titles include, but are not limited to: Habilitation Specialist 1, Nurse 1, Secure Care Treatment Aide 2, Social Work Assistant 2, and Social Work Assistant 3.
Duties Description As required by Title 14 of New York Codes, Rules and Regulations Part 624, the Incident Management Unit (IMU) provides oversight for all serious reportable incidents, allegations of abuse, and mortality within the OPWDD system. As a member of the IMU, responsibilities of the Nurse 2 will include, but not be limited to, conducting initial review of individual incidents of mortality, and additional incidents as assigned, that are reported in the Incident Report and Management Application (IRMA). Using clinical judgment and criteria developed by the Central Mortality Review Committee, the Nurse 2 will make appropriate recommendations for each incident. For mortality incidents recommended for closure, the Registered Nurse will submit to the Regional Mortality Review Committee a summary of each case and aggregated data regarding all cases recommended for closure. In addition, the Registered Nurse will perform other duties as determined to be necessary by the Director of the Incident Management Unit for effective mortality or morbidity review and other incident management tasks.

Additional Comments All OPWDD employees must be eligible and maintain eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicare and Medicaid programs. Continued employment will depend on maintaining eligibility.
