Minimum Qualifications Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled journey-level position, which would provide training equivalent to that given in an apprenticeship program. Apprentice training in a trade or training gained by the completion of technical courses in a trade at a school or institute may be substituted for the above experience on a year-for-year basis.
Duties Description Specific duties to be performed may include, but are not limited to the following:
Provide support as needed for supervisors and co-workers on assignments.
Perform general electrical maintenance work including the installation of circuits, lighting, and wiring.
Perform general carpentry duties, including the installation and maintenance of walls, ceilings, cabinets, doors, windows, flooring, and insulation.
Perform general masonry work including the removal of rough or defective spots and patch holes with fresh concrete. Apply ceramic tiles to walls, floors, and ceilings.
Cut, shape, and apply tiles to surfaces according to specifications. Apply coats of plaster and/or paint to walls and ceilings.
Additional Comments The Office of Mental Health (OMH) is seeking qualified candidates for two (2) General Mechanic, G-12 positions. These are temporary/hourly positions in the Bureau of Environmental Design and Improvement, located in West Brentwood. The Pilgrim Special Project team is part of the large NYC Special Project team that travels, based upon assignment, between facilities within the Long Island/NYC region and the Rockland PC in Orangeburg, New York.
Candidates are not eligible for reimbursement of travel costs.
