Minimum Qualifications Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 1, G-14, OR in a position at the G-12 level or higher deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of Civil Service Law OR in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of Civil Service Law. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in advancement of more than two salary grades.
Candidates eligible for consideration under Section 70.4 of Civil Service Law with one year of permanent competitive service as a G-12 or above with active status on the eligible list for this title and those eligible for consideration under Section 55 b/c are also encouraged to apply. For 55 b/c consideration, candidates must satisfy at least one of the following:
1. An associate's or higher-level degree in computer science, computer information systems, telecommunications, or management information systems; OR

2. A minimum of 60 college semester credit hours including at least 15 credit hours in computer science; OR

3. A total of one year of experience in the following computer related areas: network, server, storage, and systems management; telecommunications; IT customer support and training; computer installation, diagnosis and repair; technical writing; computer security; knowledge management; database administration, design and management; internet/intranet development, design, and maintenance; information technology project management; design and development of geographic information systems or computer aided drafting applications; computer programming; business/systems analysis; program design; or program testing.

Duties Description Duties include, but will not be limited to:

• Manage location and/or regional-based help desks including the diagnosis and triage of local issues and documentation and escalation as required of critical issues.
• Assist with Joint Commission, CMS and IOC compliance efforts.
• Provide prompt and courteous response to Health Cluster end-user problems utilizing virtual or remote technologies whenever practicable and employing local onsite resources when necessary.
• Configure, deploy and provide ongoing technical support for desktops, laptops, tables, printers, etc.
• Assist with the implementation of Health Cluster and ITS (Information Technology Services) enterprise projects and initiatives.
• Participate in site-wide, region-wide and statewide cross-training opportunities and provide cross-training to peers within the region.
• Document procedural instructions requested by users and ITS staff as well as any instructions and other critical information shared in ITS conference calls.
• Develop, change or remove intranet HTML/JavaScript web pages to keep all hospital information updated and accurate.
• Participate in the selection process for IT products and manage all related documentation for department.
• Recommend site-wide and region-wide efficiencies.
• Perform daily server backups and restorations as required; utilize desktop remote control tools to monitor and resolve software installation issues; troubleshoot network problems; and perform high-level network administration duties including management of shared directories and related rights on servers.
• Deliver training on eMail, other programs and general network navigation to all new employees and retraining to older employees, assist with maintenance and set up of IT Computer Classroom, and conduct special requested training for new programs and initiatives.
• Create and maintain user accounts and security profiles and disable/revoke user rights in multiple systems.
• Track inventory of PCs, software, and printers.
