Minimum Qualifications Interested candidates must currently be reachable on the Manager Information Technology Services 1 eligible list OR be eligible to transfer under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.
52.6 Transfer:
Candidates must have one year of permanent, competitive service in a qualifying title allocated to salary grade 25 or higher.
Duties Description • Coordinate work efforts from multiple OSC business units across multiple platforms/software
• Monitor/manage all Administrative Applications work (change requests, upgrades, etc.)
• Assign/reassign work and allocate/reallocate resources as priorities change
• Oversee all aspects of maintaining systems supported by the Administrative Applications team
• Investigate, present and pursue improvement opportunities
• Help guide direction decisions regarding platforms and software used by the Administrative Applications team
• Oversee critical projects - act as the Technical Lead or Project Manager, define tasks and time frames, secure needed resources, and coordinate tasks and resources across technical and functional teams
• Assign staff for cross-team projects
• Ensure proper procedures, documentation and training documents are created and maintained
• Attend/lead design meetings, planning sessions, team meetings, etc.
• Assure quality of work
• Develop and maintain quality control methods
• Perform code reviews on developers changes as needed
• Confirm best practices for coding and testing are followed
• Report accomplishments, plans, issues, etc. to management regularly
• Assist with issue resolution
• Provide production support as needed
• Coordinate activities (maintenance, upgrades, migrations, etc.) across IT groups (i.e.
ERP Administration, Database, Security, Networking)
• Supervise 6 Administrative Application Team Leads
• Create evaluations, training plans and work plans
• Coach/mentor leads on day-to-day activities, staff growth, planning, etc.
• Ensure smooth, open communications are maintained
• Establish and maintain a good rapport with customers and ensure the team provides excellent customer service
• Coordinate work efforts between customers & CIO such as participation in:
? Portfolio planning
? Prioritization of work
? Creation of timelines and resource estimates for work efforts
? Meet regularly to communicate and resolve issues and conflicts
? Work with both groups to improve processes, communications, etc.
• Investigate, present and pursue improvement opportunities
Additional Comments Desired Competencies:
(1) 3+ years of supervisory experience, leading and mentoring people
(2) Customer support oriented with the ability to work with multiple customers
(3) Excellent verbal and written communication skills which allow for clear communication to technical staff as well as customers
(4) Experience managing multiple customers and/or technologies with varying priorities
