Salary RangeFrom $75243 to $94834 Annually
Minimum Qualifications Candidates must have one year of permanent, competitive, or non-competitive 55 b/c service as a Senior Attorney OR be eligible for transfer under Section 52.6 or 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
Duties Description The candidate will be responsible for representing the OMIG in administrative hearings involving the recoupment of money from, and/or the imposition of, a sanction against Medicaid providers. This includes preparing the case for hearing, conducting witness preparation, performing direct and cross examination, preparing opening statements and post-hearing briefs, and reviewing and obtaining the necessary documents for use in the administrative hearing. Additionally, the Senior Attorney in this area will advise OMIG staff regarding legal matters that arise in litigation, and will provide assistance to the Attorney General’s office in such matters including: reviewing court papers for comment, assisting in the drafting of answers, memoranda of law and other responsive documents, responding to discovery requests, obtaining and assisting in the preparation of affidavits and assisting in the development of the OMIG’s legal position and strategy for the case. The candidate may be asked to provide general legal advice to the OMIG on a variety of matters related to Medicaid Program Integrity.
Additional Comments Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of Health Law and/or Medicaid Law and proven litigation experience in state or federal courts and/or administrative forums preferred. Candidate must have strong analytical, organizational, writing and communication skills, as well as the ability to work as part of a team.
