Minimum Qualifications Please Note: Canvass letters will be mailed to candidates who are reachable on the current Civil Service eligible list for the Principal Audit Clerk title.

Current New York State employee with one year of permanent or contingent permanent service as a Senior Audit Clerk; OR eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Duties Description The incumbent will perform a wide variety of paraprofessional administrative activities to support the work in HESC's Cashier Office. Tasks may include, but are not limited to:

Supervise daily operations of the Cashier Office; ensure borrower payments received are posted timely, accurately and in accordance with Agency policies and Federal regulations; coordinate processing of electronic payment files; review and approve daily posting of cash receipts; deposit all TAP returns and scholarship repayment checks, update TAP spreadsheets, database and the Grants and Scholarships mainframe to record the receipt of payments and track outstanding TAP and scholarship funds; work with Administrative Wage Garnishment employers and various HESC units to research and identify payments; work with the lockbox service provider to make sure that data is provided timely and accurately; oversee the SmartCheck Debit program for Promiseland borrower payments; ensure that work unit statistics are compiled timely and accurately; assist in providing data to internal and external auditors; maintain and update work area procedures to ensure that staff is aware of and in compliance
