Minimum Qualifications Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as a Manger Information Technology Services 1 Technical OR in a position at G-25/M-1 or higher deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of Civil Service Law. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in advancement of more than two salary grades or one M-grade.

Duties Description Within Data Center Hosting of the Chief Operations Office, the Manager Information Technology Services 1 (Technical) will oversee the Remote Field Server Support Unit. This unit is responsible for Windows servers located at Remote Field Server sites for those Agencies that are part of the ITS Consolidation efforts.

Duties include, but will not be limited to, oversight of the following:

• Monitor Data Center servers using tools appropriate to the Remote Field Server site in a proactive and reactive manner.
• Work with the appropriate Networking groups to establish connectivity from the Data Center Hosting location to the Remote Field Server sites.
• Work with the appropriate Active Directory staff to provide credentials to Data Center Hosting staff to log into and support those remote servers.
• Troubleshoot issues relating to the Windows OS and respond to alerts and incidents related to them.
• Coordinate meetings and changes required to resolve server related issues with local on-site staff.
• Create documentation and store it in a central location for DCH staff to use when troubleshooting issues.
• Assist with the transition into IT Service Management (ITSM) for incidents. If an issue comes to Data Center Hosting WIN outside of ITSM, work with the requestor and their help desk to submit the incident as a ticket.
• Create and maintain a template for Help Desk staff to follow when server related issue is reported.
• Associate ITSM tickets with server CI's for logging purposes.
• Acquire network access and credentials needed to support all Windows servers, along with infrastructure information necessary to provide support. For example, IP addresses may be needed or hypervisor server IPs for environments not at CNSE.
• Patch Windows servers located in Remote Field Server sites.
• Install, configure, troubleshoot and maintain software used to patch servers.
• Apply Microsoft patches on a monthly basis.
• Perform the full range of supervisory responsibilities.
