Minimum Qualifications Two years of experience in maintenance or mechanical work under the supervision of a skilled trade worker or completion of an appropriate two-year technical school course.
Preferred candidates will demonstrate trade experience working in hospitals or similar institutional settings. Possession of a valid driver’s license may be required.
Duties Description The Office of Mental Health (OMH) is recruiting to fill a Maintenance Assistant position. This is a temporary/hourly position in the Bureau of Environmental Design and Improvement, located in the Long Island area. Specific duties to be performed may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Perform semi-skilled carpentry duties, including the installation and maintenance of walls, ceilings, cabinets, doors, windows, flooring and insulation.
Working knowledge of maintenance and repair methods, materials and tools.
Conduct skilled surface preparation and application of primer and finish coats of paint in areas designated in the scope of work.
Perform manual tasks such as lifting and placing equipment and tools.
Additional Comments The Long Island Revite team travels between facilities within the Long Island/NYC region which includes Queens, Brooklyn, Dix Hills and West Brentwood to perform special project renovations, ongoing maintenance, small repair and environmental improvement projects.
Candidates are not eligible for reimbursement of travel costs.
